Here's How This Works...

STEP 1. The Evaluation

Most people see musical talent as "all or nothing". In fact, musical talent is broken up into several categories including (but not limited to):

  • Pitch (hearing differences)
  • Rhythm (creating and recreating patterns)
  • Aesthetics (knowing if it sounds "good")
  • Mechanical Skill (the ability to perform)

Each player starts with a different level of ability in each category. So instead of being "talented" or not, a student's  skill levels may look something like this:

In this example, the hypothetical student displays a high degree of rhythmic understanding and mechanical skill, while pitch and aesthetics are a bit lower. This suggests that the student may have trouble hearing wrong notes or what makes a good tone. This is completely correctable!

During your evaluation we'll discover where your strengths and weaknesses are so there will be no guess work when identifying the roadblocks and creating your personalized program.

STEP 2. Scheduling the Lesson

With the results of the evaluation in hand we'll set up a schedule for one-on-one weekly lessons over Zoom. Payments are handled through PayPal. 

STEP 3. You become an AWESOME guitar player!

Over those 25 years as a performer, composer, producer, and teacher—and formal training in music theory and film scoring—I've learned that musical problems are rarely one-dimensional. 

That broad experience allows me to see what many instrument-only teachers miss. Sometimes the real obstacle isn't guitar technique at all—it's rhythm, ear training, theory, body mechanics,  how you're practicing, or some combination.
